Marylin N. Palco, 84, of Warren, MI (originally from Warren Township/Roseville, MI) passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019. Beloved wife of the late John Palco. Loving mother of Jackilyn (Ron) Cattera and Cindy (Wayne) Wheatley. Proud Grandmother of Dane Cattera, John Wheatley and Dillon Wheatley. Survived by her siblings Lorraine (and the late Bernie) Schulte, Jim Ureel, Tom (Desta) Ureel, and Dan (Debra) Ureel; and close long-time friend Frank Schreiner. Preceded in death by her parents Maurice and Mae Ureel, and her Granddaughter, Amanda Wheatley. Marylin was the owner of Palco’s Florist located in Warren, MI where she began her beloved career as a florist in 1952 and subsequently single-handedly and successfully ran the business along with Hobby Horse Farms since 1976 when her husband unexpectedly passed away. Marylin was an inspiration to the lives that she touched including her family, numerous friends, colleagues, and customers. First and foremost Marylin loved working and keeping busy!! Most evenings you could find her in the flower shop working till all hours with the radio blaring and her birds chirping, filling orders for the next day. The word retirement was not in Marylin’s vocabulary. She continued to work until the Summer of 2018 at the age of 84! Marylin also enjoyed horseback riding, bike riding, gardening, dance of all types, vacationing, and attending church functions. She adored and appreciated spending family time with Jacki, Ron, Dane (Amanda), and Frank going to dinner, going bowling, relaxing on the patio, and frequent morning trips to McDonald’s for her favorite hotcakes and a good cup of coffee. Marylin will be lovingly remembered and missed by everyone in her life. Now she will dance in Heaven with her beloved husband, John.

Dear family. I am so sorry for the loss of your dear loved one. What brings me comfort in times like these is the scripture found at Revelation 21: 3, 4 where God promises to do away with all sickness and death forever. Please accept my heartfelt condolences and may Jehovah, the God of all comfort, be with your family during this most difficult time in your lives.

Marylin was one of the strongest people I have had he honor and privilege to meet and know. Our first meeting wasn't the smoothest, but she had my respect and throughout the years I came to love her heart and attitude toward work, the world and all the people in it. I already miss her. Buying flowers won't be the same. Boarding won't be the same. I loved to see her riding her bike. I was thrilled to see her riding Charm just a couple years ago. I don't think "can't" was in her vocabulary. She inspires me to try harder and be a doer of my word letting my yes be yes and my no be no. She never lied or took advantage of anyone. Marylin was a good woman. I am looking forward to seeing her in God's Kingdom where I know He has a glorious room for her. As the days pass, I hope that the family - especially Jacki find peace to rest after a long journey of cyclically rehabbing your Mum. It was amazing and heartbreaking to see the determination to advocate for Marylyn's health and care. No one knew her like you. No one knew her Dr's like you. No one fought for her like you. Frank, also diligently helping and visiting and encouraging her to fight through and get better so she could do what she loved - flowers. Delivering pretty thinks for people to feel good about.

I will miss you, Marylin. I already do. You've become a friend and a grandma to me, over the past 9+ years I have had the pleasure of being a part of your family. Thank you for always making me feel welcome & keeping my holidays full of flowers (and cacti!). Your quick wit and beautiful floral arrangements will be sorely missed. They already are. Jack, Ron, Dane...I'm sorry for your loss...our loss. I love you guys and will do whatever you need, as you grieve and always. -- Amanda M. Rattray
